This also includes the translations generated by the Service from your User Content ("Generated Translations"). Both are stored to allow you to access them from your projects.
  • Translation Preferences: Your selected source and target languages, custom glossary terms (if applicable), and other translation settings.
  • Communications: If you contact us directly (e.g., for customer support), we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.

2.2. Information We Collect Automatically

When you use our Service, we automatically collect certain information about your device and your interaction with our Service:

  • Usage Data: Information about how you use our Service, such as the features you use, character counts processed, projects created, pages you visit, actions you take, and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities.

You retain all intellectual property rights and ownership of your User Content and the Generated Translations. Our processing of this content is strictly for the purpose of providing and improving the translation Service to you.

We do not use your User Content or Generated Translations to train our AI models or any third-party AI models without your explicit, separate consent.

Your User Content and Generated Translations are stored securely to allow you to access them via your account. You can delete your projects and associated data at any time using the features provided in the Service.

4. How We Use Your Information and Our Legal Bases for Processing

We use the information we collect for various purposes, and we rely on specific legal bases under GDPR for processing your personal data:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: This includes creating and managing your account, processing your User Content to generate translations, storing your projects, and enabling Service features.

  • User Content and Generated Translations associated with your projects are retained as long as your account is active and the projects are not deleted by you.
  • We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws, such as tax and accounting requirements, which may require retention for up to 8 years in Hungary), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

When we no longer need your personal data for these purposes, we will securely delete or anonymize it. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@booktranslate.ai. We will process such requests in accordance with applicable law.

8. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the GDPR. We aim to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your personal data. These rights include:

9. International Data Transfers
